Perfect Romantic Books for Valentines

Dear Booklovers,

Valentine's Day is tomorrow and I am feeling very nostalgic.

I recollect the years I have spent reading and I realize that love is something special, ethereal, an out-of-this-world experience.

When I was a teen, I thought love was foolish and I could not understand why people died for love, why boys and girls will become dummies in the name of love, why people would walk through fire and scale skyscrapers all in the name of love.

I can gladly say that now, I think I know what love is.

And I want to share with you, some of the most beautiful, most touching, most ingenious romance stories that I have read in all these years, the one I have never been able to forget, the stories that lit up the fire of love within my cold cold heart, the stories that healed me and made me believe that love is magical and possible.

Now, I may not remember them all but I will do my best.

1. Ransom by Julie Garwood
I read this book when I was in SS2 and I remember how my novel buddy, Ebitari, and I could not stop gushing over this book. Over the years, I have never forgotten Ransom. Oh I remember Broderick, the most dashing character that I met in a long time. I remember Gillian, the brave heroine who tamed his wild heart. Well, if you have not read this book, you have missed a major life event.

2. Susan Elizabeth Phillips
This is my queen of contemporary romance. She is va va voom, she is hot sauce, she is sizzling and terribly romantic. Her characters are so real, so relatable, so flawed that you cannot help but love them. I don't joke with her and I will not talk much about her because I don't have the words.

3.Can You Keep a Secret/Remember Me/Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella
Sophie holds a special place in my heart. Why? I have never, ever read a book of hers that I disliked, that did not captivate me completely and pull me under. Best of all, Sophie is hilarious. This is one author who will make you laugh so hard you will snort. Whenever I read Sophie Kinsella, I try to do it in my room because I don't want to be laughing like a mad woman on the road. Shopaholic series is one of the best books ever, so funny, so true, sooooooooooooo good. Please, I implore you, if you know what is good for you, if you truly love books/romance, read Sophie Kinsella.

4. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Okay, so I know i just discovered Sally Thorne but you must understand that this book touched my heart so bad, I was irrational, mad with the desire to consume the book, sad that the book would not last forever. Gosh, she made love out to be pure magic, her plot is pure genius and her characters, let's just say she will make you fall in love, using hate as a medium. Read the book to know what I mean.

5. Judith McNaught
You will notice that I did not put any title here. That is because, almost all of her books are legends, the stuff epic love tales are made of. I was not interested in Judith McNaught even though I used to see her books when I go to the book store. Till a friend gave me one, just one of her book and I said "Eh, is that what I have been missing?" I don't know how she does it but she delivers epic tale after epic tale like its nothing.

6. 'The Boy' series by Meg Cabot
Meg is one author that is most assuredly, a ninja. She has so many books that when I discovered her, it took me months, months, almost a year to read all her books. She is the author of The Princess Diaries which Anna Hathaway popular. However, The Boy series are special. Why? The whole books are basically told from emails, texts and other instant messaging means. Its like reading a whole backlog of emails back and forth. Brilliant and captivating.

I am absolutely sure that there are others but these are the ones that readily comes to mind.

As you celebrate Valentines, celebrate love in its purest form. Love in its purest form, is pure magic.
