"He said i'm a prude, that I should let go and enjoy life more."
"So what did you do?"
Silence!
"What did you do?"
"If you haven't, you're a prude. If you have, you're a slut. Its a trap."
Have you ever being called a prude before?
You know that burning pain you fell in your chest whenever you were called that?
That is called 'righteous indignation' which is a fancy name for anger/rage.
You know that urge you have to immediately defend yourself, followed immediately by the need to 'show' whomever that you are not actually a prude, that infact, you can have fun too like every normal person?
That urge is called 'peer pressure' or 'societal pressure'
Societal pressure is worse than peer pressure because it affects adults and its usually very rational, definitive and intelligent.
And you that are calling people prude, what is your objective? Is it not to get them to do what you want?
We all know what people want when they use names on others and try to shame/guilt them into doing what they are not ready for.
Let me tell you my dear prudes, you are not a prude.
A prude is one who is excessively proper and easily offended by matters of a sexual nature. It does not mean people who don't like fun or sex.
Just because you choose better life choices like refusing to smoke, drink, womanise, and all what not, does not make you a prude.
Just because you choose not to open for any tom, dick or harry does not make you a prude. Being highly selective or choosing to wait till the marriage or the right person means you respect yourself and by the way, its your body, its your choice.
Okay, so you say you don't believe in premarital sex, casual sex, pornography and offending sexual content on social media or emails. Suddenly, everybody is calling you a prude because of what you believe in and what you shy away from.
You know, in this world that claims to value freedom, you should assert your right to be free to believe in whatever you choose to believe in.
Many who have stayed celibate for so long have vowed to enjoy sex when the time is right for them.
Bowing to societal or peer pressure means you have no identity of your own.
Infact, its time to assert your own power by saying 'Prude by Choice' 'Prude depends on who's asking'
Put the pressure on them, not you.
